Designer & Photographer
Design isn’t always clean and simple. You have to keep things interesting.
Sometimes us designers have multiple personalities. We like to keep things clean, simple, and clear. Then we go through the teenage years of putting some edge to our work. An effective designer can do both.
Who am I?
My name is Sarah Monroe. I’m a 23 year old creative living among the mountains in Knoxville, Tennessee. I love traveling, reading, tacos, and my dogs. And of course, graphic design and photography.
I grew up in Chattanooga and then ventured out to little ol’ Berry College in Rome, Georgia for my first two years of college. Sadly, their program focused on film whereas I wanted graphic design. So I packed up and transferred to Middle Tennessee State University for my remaining two years of college. Their visual communication program was my dream come true. Moving to Middle Tennessee was the best decision I ever made for the future of my career. My professors were so talented and gave me more insight than I knew what to do with. They genuinely care about their students, and they continue to help me to this day. I graduated from MTSU August 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Visual Communication. I minored in Art and Marketing. I was fortunate enough to graduated with a full time job working at a print shop, and continued moving up my career-ladder since then!
I currently work for ORNL Federal Credit Union as one of their two graphic designers. Working in a marketing department is amazing, and if you’re unsure of #workgoals, look no further! Marketing is the group to be in. And more than likely, they’ll like tacos and dogs as much as you do. I get to do a lot of editorial work, which is my forte and something I love. You won’t see any examples of my editorial work for this company yet because they are all still a work in progress and pending the many layers of approval.
Before moving to Knoxville, I previously worked for MedCenterDisplay, a PatientPoint company creative digital content for hospitals and health care providers. This includes static & animatic content provided by the hospital, animated advertisements that play on their screens, and “General Health” pieces highlighting fun and random health facts.
I also do freelance photography on the side. I’ve been doing photography since 2010, but only recently have gotten the closest to the editing style I desire. To see my work, view my Facebook page here, or visit my website.
